Jolanda opened February 2020 a guesthouse “Home of Nepal” for everyone who likes to relax in a rural area at the Himalaya valley.
At Suikhet (Hemja), 15 km from Pokhara, close to starting points for hikings and trekkings is Home of Nepal located. It is surrounded by the green hills of Pokhara valley.
Earlier at the building a family with four children lived here. After the earthquake of 2015 the house was partly damaged and the family only lived downstairs. It is an old fasioned house. When you visit this house, you will still experience the old way of architecture eg. the ceiling and floor. It is still possible to make your meal on wood. But nowadays the Western comfort has also entered in this building: a comfort toilet, warm water to shower, wifi, cooking on gaz and comfortable beds. Downstairs we have two sleeping rooms. Each has a double and single bed. Also you will find the kitchen and reception on this floor. Upstairs you will find only single beds.
Close to our guesthouse "Home of Nepal" live Jolanda and Adhikari family. They give you a heartly welcome. They also will be very pleased if you allow them to make Nepali food for you and if you participate at their family. Of course it will be your own choice. But by Nepali tradition you will not only be a guest but also a family member.
Nepali cook two time a day Dal Bhat. It is rice and curry. Before they go to work, or children go to school, and before sleeping time they eat this food. On day time you can use this kitchen.
Jolanda and Adhikari family like to meet you very soon. They charge 15 euro per day for your stay and meals. The profit will be used to sponsor children at Nepali Children Hostel.
